Shadows of Chaos FAQ

If I join Shadows of Chaos and level to 70 will I be guaranteed a raid slot?
In short you will NOT be guaranteed a raiding spot. The way raid roster slots work is that once you have a slot you keep it until you give it up. Therefore we can not guarantee you a spot, because we can not predict who will leave, when we can start a new raid, etc. What we will do it let you know exactly where in line you are to get a raiding slot. Additionally Shadows of Chaos guild members will be given priority over non-guild raid members when a new spot comes open.

During a raid will I ever be swapped out for a different character becuase they are better for a given fight?
No

If I am raiding with SoC but not a "Raider" will I be passed over for loot, etc.
No, every member of the raid will be treated equally regardless of guild membership or status within the guild.

If I am a permanent member of the raid and but not a member of SoC will I ever get kicked for a SoC member?
No, once your on the permanent raid roster your slot is yours until you give it up.

How does the guild bank work? Do I pay for items?
We do not have a cost for guild bank items, we expect that you take what you need to help your character advance and deposit what you don't need. Additionally if you take a something of significant value you should strive to deposit something of similar value when you have the chance.

Additionally there will be a "Raiding" tab for the guild bank. Items in this tab will only be aviable for characters which are participating in the raids and thus have helped aquire them.

Can I charge SoC Members for enchanting, jewel crafting, etc.
No. Guild members are expected to provide their own mat's but you may never charge a guild member for your services.

What is Zero Sum DKP?
Zero-sum means that DKP are distributed based on the value of items that drop. All members in a zero-sum DKP start with a score of 0. When an item is given to a raid member, they have to pay for it in DKP (going negative if necessary). These DKP spent are immediately distributed among all the raid members. Thus the amount of DKP, i.e. the sum of all members in the system, is always zero. The idea here is that inflation is impossible, since no points enter the system from the outside.
Although "zero-sum" describes only a method of earning DKP, and it would in theory be perfectly possible to combine this income method with bidding for finding the item prices, nearly no raids actually do that. Instead, about every real-live zero sum system uses fixed prices, thus the terms "zero sum" and "zero sum, fixed price" have nearly become synonyms.
